Mature Student Criteria
The following information is necessary to determine whether a person qualifies to enroll as a mature student. There are three criteria, all of which must be met.
The student:

Must be 19 years of age or over at the time of enrollment in school division/district or ALC programming directed at completing the Mature Student Graduation Requirements, or reach the age of 19 before completion of the course(s) in which he or she is enrolled.

Must have been out of school six months or more, and out of school long enough for the class, of which he or she was last a member, to have graduated from Senior Years.

Has not obtained a high school diploma.
Some FAQ's
Does the student's have to be 6 or more consecutive months?
Yes, the break has to be one period of time. The six months or more reflects a break from the school system immediately prior to enrolling in a mature student diploma program. It is not about cumulative absence from school. A student missing two months of grade 10 and 4 months of grade 11, does not qualify as a being out of school six months or more.
How many credits do you need to achieve in the Mature Program?
You need to obtain your Grade 12 Essentials Math, Grade 12 English and two grade 12 electives.
How many credits do you need to before you can enter the Mature Student Program?
You need to have earned at least 4 high school credits prior to starting the mature student program. The courses can be at any grade level.
